If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.
-Ernest Hemingway
In 2010, I moved to Paris without speaking the language, knowing anyone, or having a place to stay. This blog curates my stories, experiences, and lessons about my time in Paris, because moving to Paris is one of the best decisions of my life. The city is evolving secretly while time passes. Some places are opening, and some places are closing and some places are not changing at all. It’s a competition between you and the city. In Paris, night and day, you can live different experiences…different lives…different things.
Originally from New Orleans, I grew up appreciating the city’s mixed heritage, Cajun and Creole’s culinary delights and Southern charm. I pursued my undergraduate degrees in Athens, the ultimate football town with a lively collegiate atmosphere full of bars and legendary music venues. My first job out of college led me to Paris, the fashion capital of the world, where I absorbed the French appreciation of joie de vivre and savoir faire. After graduate school, I worked in Munich and grasped the German value of one’s pragmatism, responsibility, and principles in both work and life.
After living abroad in Europe for almost a decade, I decided to settle down and returned to the US. I currently reside in New York City–the only city in the world on par with my ambitions, energy, and dreams.
